DUBAI: Pakistan Test captain Babar Azam and middle-order batter Saud Shakeel have made upward movements in the latest ICC Test batting rankings released on Wednesday.
Pakistan endured a 3-0 Test series whitewash against England, with the team undergoing significant changes after the first two defeats.
Despite another loss in the final Test at Edgbaston, several Pakistan batters earned ranking gains following improved individual performances.
Babar, who scored 76 off 103 balls in Pakistan’s second innings at Edgbaston, climbed two places to 13th in the latest Test batting rankings. Saud also moved up two spots and now sits at 16th, following scores of 43 and 29 in the third Test against England.
Former Pakistan captain Shan Masood made the biggest gain among the established batters, rising four places to 37th after producing a fighting 95 in the second innings at Edgbaston.
Meanwhile, debutant Razaullah entered the Test batting rankings at 91st following his memorable 81 off 63 balls in Pakistan’s second innings.

The 21-year-old produced a blistering counter-attacking innings featuring nine sixes and four boundaries, setting several records on his Test debut.
However, Pakistan’s difficult series was reflected in the rankings for some of their other batters.
Abdullah Shafique dropped 11 places to 46th after a disappointing series in England. He managed just three runs in the first innings at Edgbaston before being dismissed for a duck in the second.
Mohammad Rizwan slipped one place to 34th, while Salman Ali Agha also dropped one spot and is now ranked 44th after being sent home following the second Test.
Pakistan were bowled out for just 133 in their first innings at Edgbaston but showed greater resistance in their second outing, posting 449 to set England a target of 130.
England chased down the target comfortably despite losing two wickets, completing their first-ever home Test series whitewash against Pakistan.
