- Two sides are also likely to sign MoU on establishment of Pakistan-Saudi Agri Investment Fund

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are set to deepen cooperation in agriculture and food trade, with Islamabad seeking to significantly expand exports of agricultural and food products to the Kingdom through stronger market linkages, investment and private-sector partnerships.
The development came during a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Establishment Division Senator Ahad Cheema to review progress on initiatives aimed at expanding bilateral trade and investment in the agriculture and food sectors.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Secretary Commerce Jawad Paul, Secretary National Food Security and Research Amer Ali Ahmad, CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf and senior officials from the Foreign Office and other departments.
Cheema said the upcoming visit of Saudi Minister for Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Al-Fadley would be important for strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring new opportunities for investment and joint ventures.
Officials said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had identified meat, rice, processed food and animal fodder as key areas for cooperation. The Saudi delegation is also expected to meet provincial agriculture ministers and Pakistani business groups to explore trade and investment opportunities.
The delegation will visit the National Agriculture Research Centre (NARC), where it will be briefed on Pakistan’s agricultural research, innovation and development initiatives.
Several MoUs are also expected to be signed during the visit, including agreements related to food research and the proposed establishment of a Pakistan-Saudi Agri Investment Fund.
Cheema said Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was keen to translate the longstanding brotherly ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia into stronger economic, trade and investment partnerships.
He directed relevant departments to ensure close coordination and prepare commercially viable proposals aimed at enhancing Pakistan’s agricultural and food exports to Saudi Arabia.
The minister expressed hope that the Saudi delegation’s visit would provide fresh momentum to bilateral cooperation in agricultural trade, investment, research and joint ventures.
