Sharjah: The American University of Sharjah (AUS) has recorded its best-ever performance in the QS World University Rankings, climbing an impressive 60 places to reach 272nd globally in the newly released 2026 edition. This milestone positions AUS among the top 18 percent of universities worldwide, continuing a steady upward trajectory that began in 2018.
The ranking reflects significant gains across key performance indicators, including employer reputation, academic reputation, and citations per faculty. Globally, AUS ranked third for international faculty and fourth for international student diversity. Within the UAE, AUS secured first place for employer reputation and international student diversity and second for employment outcomes. The university also retained its standing among the top three universities nationally overall and advanced in academic reputation, rising from the top five to third place. AUS continues to rank among the top three universities in the UAE for international faculty.
“This achievement further validates our shared vision to position AUS as a world-class hub for academic excellence, impactful research, and global collaboration,” said AUS President Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi. “Our steady ascent in recent years is the result of targeted investment in people, partnerships, and purpose. We remain committed to growing as a research-driven institution that delivers globally competitive education and equips students to lead with insight, intelligence, and integrity in an increasingly complex world.”
Chancellor Dr. Tod A. Laursen said “These results are the outcome of a clear strategic direction, effective leadership at all levels, and the unwavering dedication of our faculty, students, and staff to academic and research excellence.”
