Are you a visual artist eager to explore the timeless art of engraving? The American Numismatic Association (ANA) is inviting aspiring artists to apply for the Art of Engraving Scholarship for the 2025/2026 academic cycle. This unique opportunity, generously underwritten by the Gilroy and Lillian P. Roberts Foundation in honor of the ninth Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint, Gilroy Roberts, offers six talented individuals the chance to immerse themselves in the exquisite craft of engraving.
Why Apply?
The Art of Engraving Scholarship is more than just an educational opportunity—it’s a hands-on artistic journey. This intensive course, part of the ANA’s 2025 Summer Seminar, allows selected candidates to dive deep into the intricate process of medal and coin creation.
Scholarship Benefits
The six (06) scholarship recipients will receive:
- Full tuition coverage for the engraving course.
- On-campus lodging and meals for one week at the ANA headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO.
- Up to $750 in travel reimbursement to offset transportation costs.
- An exclusive invitation to return for Year Two in 2026, upon successful completion of the first year.
This once-in-a-lifetime experience bridges traditional hand-die engraving techniques with modern coin and medal-making processes, offering students a rare chance to work with experts in the field.
