Oxford University misses out on top spot in new 2025 ranking

<p>Oxford University has missed out on the top two spots in a new ranking for 2025.</p>



<p>The new rankings posted by The Times and recently shared by the Economic Times have placed the top 10 institutions in the country.</p>



<p>Oxford has been ranked top of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for nine consecutive years but fell short in this most recent table.</p>



<p>London School of Economics and Political Science secured the top spot with a total score of 1,000.</p>

University of St Andrews in Scotland was placed second in the updated list with a total of 988 points.

This saw the Scottish institution narrowly edge past Oxford in third place which was awarded 985 points.

Oxford did however beat bitter rivals, the University of Cambridge, with the latter ranking in fourth with 950 points.

Durham University came in fifth with 898 points while Imperial College London was in sixth with 888 points.

University College London and the University of Bath ranked next in seventh and eighth with 882 and 861 points respectively.

Lastly, the University of Warwick with 856 points and Loughborough University with 837 placed in ninth and tenth places.

The University of Oxford was recently named the best in the world for three subjects in international rankings.

QS World University Rankings 2025 saw the prestigious institution claim the top spot for English Language and Literature, Anatomy and Physiology, and Geography.
